Overview

New energy projects, hydro billing, and matters affecting the natural environment can be sources of concern for many Ontario residents. The Ombudsman can review complaints about all of the provincial ministries and programs that deal with these topics, as well as about municipal utility companies.

 

We can

• Help with unresolved complaints or investigate systemic issues regarding such organizations as:

  • Ministry of Energy

  • Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks

  • Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry

  • Municipal hydro companies

  • Ontario Energy Board

  • Ontario Power Generation

We cannot

• Overturn decisions of elected officials or direct them on public policy

• Take complaints about Hydro One (these are referred to its internal ombudsman)
